Home   Land Regeneration Spotland, Rochdale

Spotland, Rochdale, Lancashire

A major 72 acre regeneration project in central Rochdale. In accordance with the UDP, MMC intends to remediate and revitalise a largely redundant manufacturing site and create a new urban village. In the region of 650 new homes will be created, in association with a national house-builder along with an infrastructure and associated employment uses: office, industrial, retail, leisure, medical.

Set in about 35 acres of the 72 acre site, the Former Turner and Newall site manufactured asbestos containing products leaving a legacy of asbestos contamination on parts of the site to varying degrees, representing a significant challenge.

A planning application is currently being determined from which a framework will be developed to properly and safely remediate the site and transform the area into a thriving urban village community.
