The League Two club has signed its most lucrative shirt sponsorship in club history, according to the club’s website. MMC Estates, a local property company and land developer, has signed a four-year deal that will start with the 2006-07 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
MMC Estates managing director Mike Drogan said: “We are a local company and this time we wanted to put something back into the community so we invested a sizeable amount in Rochdale AFC. Hopefully the investment we’ve made will help secure the foundations of the club.”
The club could use the funds to help with its pitch problems, a request voiced by the club’s manager, Steve Parkin. Home games often have been cancelled because of problems with the pitch and the club’s website also asked fans if they would rather have a better pitch or a higher playing budget.
